Redding can be frustrating, and rides from Cypress Avenue can take awhile, but you'll get a ride eventually. This exit features several gas stations, fast food outlets, and lots of room to pull over, and long distance rides from this spot are likely.

Sat right at the truck parking lot exit, held out my sign when I saw trucks driving out. First one that stopped said they were headed in the opposite direction, but another truck stopped a little while later and gave me a ride out. Much faster here than the on ramp and more responses.

This spot is pretty good. There is lots of traffic and room for traffic to pull off.

I got dropped off here by a Sheriff's deputy that was surprisingly nice. He even bought me lunch.

There wasn't as much traffic as I was expecting, but I was still able to get a ride in a reasonable amount of time.

Went to this on ramp late, hitching south, but still bright out. There is a TA and airport right next to it but not as much traffic as you'd expect. Plenty of room to pull over and time to see you, but I was at that spot for almost 2 hours and didn't have anyone stop. Tried again the next morning for an hour but experienced even less traffic. You'll have better luck flying directly at the TA's. The cops won't mess with you here though, had multiple drive past without saying anything, and one even ask where I was headed (presumable to give me a ride).

Too busy for people to notice despite plenty of room to pull off. Got lots of mean looks and a few middle fingers
