Should be a great spot. Plenty of room for cars to stop and see you. But I waited here for 5 hours and couldn't get a ride. I was dressed nice, had a sign that said "Memphis". I'm wondering if only locals use this ramp as of 2025―Anonymous

Stood there for about 3 hours in the rain asking people in the gas station and truck drivers for a ride on the 81 South towards Knoxville. After 3 hours got an insane ride all the way to Nashville. If you plan on hitchhiking here keep in mind that: most truckers nowadays are not allowed by their company to pick you up and that about 9 out of 10 people there are heading up North and not down South―Anonymous

Going South, we got a ride to Birmingham after 1h i guess on a tuesday around 6pm, a couple with big backpacks. Good visibility and space to pull over, police didn't bother us :)―Anonymous

Don't even consider trying here. It's totally pointless as no one hits the interstate at this entry.―Anonymous

The main road is very busy, but only very few cars actually hit the interstate. Besides, the police hassled me after 1 hour of intense thumbing. I gave up in the end. If you're trying to hitchhike out of Nashville, I recommend walking to entry 196. It's a long walk, but definitely worth it!―Anonymous

Very busy ramp, gas stations and restaurants all around. Apparently this ramp has been used by a lot of hitchhikers and tramps, as the guardrail is covered in signatures and hitchhiking tips by people who have tried there before. One even says that if you're hungry, you can walk to Waffle House and get a whole menu for free.I got a ride after 1 hour, and the driver even took me out for lunch.
If you're hitching out west out of Nashville, consider investing your time walking to this spot rather than thumbing on entries closer to the city center.

This is a broad 2-lane ramp with loads of cars. I couldn't rest my thumb for a second cause cars were continuously flowing. I got a ride to west of Nashville after 30 mins.―Anonymous

Not a great spot, made to move along from the welcome centre by security, and only got picked up due to traffic. Really nice Ukrainian guy let me hop in and took me all the way to Nashville though―Anonymous
