Super easy to hitch a ride in Albania. This spot doesn't look promising at first (it's next to an abandoned lot) but I stood just before the petrol station and was quickly picked up by a family going to Koplik for lunch. Then at Koplik I was dropped off at a roundabout leading onto the road to the Hani i Hotit border crossing. There was picked up within 1 minute and brought all the way to Podgorica.

Direction: north by the A1 highway Hitchhikers: 2, male Time: 17:00 BEWARE!! There is a petrol station, slip road and a lot of traffic. However "služba drogowa" banned us from standing on the slip road, there are no shoulders of the road and the roundabout doesn‘t make it easier. On the petrol station are mostly locals, so they won‘t take you anywere either. No cars stopped to us, after three hours of asking around, changing spots, signs - we were so desperate to get to the highway that we even tried another direction - with no success, we set off to the nearest petrol station on the highway, which is eight kilometres by walk. We recommend trying to hitchhike a car along the way, we managed to do it.

We tried a lot of different signs, Lodz, A1 and others, however no car took us the 10 km to the A1 highway. The road actually leads to Lodz, but no cars took us there either. After a long time a young lady with a dog took us to Lodz. I warn you all, don‘t try out this place

Very few cars on this road. People get out of work from the local factory at around 4pm and go back home to Jurva so you might get a ride then. I got a ride from someone who knows me because I'm from this village. Your best chances are at 4pm and at morning when people from the village go to work.

This spot is hard to reach, but I think there's a legal place to stop here! It's a huge bus stop basically, but it's not an actual bus stop. It's called "Vändplats" It has the traffic sign that you aren't allowed to park there but you are allowed to stop there. Had a truck stop there for me and took me straight to Tornio! Look at this spot with street view.

Tried to go to Suwałki/Poland, but changed sign to Marijampolė to get out of here. Not the best spot but definetly not bad and it's very doable. Hitchiked directly from the staircase where everyone leaves the car deck from on the Eckerö line boat! Go to the car deck immediately when you get on the boat when everyone is coming out of their cars. Recommend doing this so you can get a ride before you even come out of the boat!
