About every 20 min. there would be somebody stopping. But all went towards Oldenburg or Osnabrück. We (2 guys) were trying to get to Lüneburg. No success…Cars were coming pretty often but it doesn't seem to be a good spot for hitching.
Cars to Lüneburg probably rather go down the A7. Or maybe walking in the city and trying at the Bundesstraße B75 which also crosses the river Elbe and is pretty close would've been better?

Saw a NL(Netherlands) plate and waited by their car until they came from the restroom. Friendly older couple going towards south of Netherlands. Probably one of the most used gas stations near Hamburg and super easy to get a ride. Some people a little grumpy―Anonymous

Friendly drivers, I was asking around, found an Italian (!) guy who drove me all the way to Hambourg! For me it worked pretty well!―Adrien44

Services were closed when I was there (and look like it could be permanent). Petrol station is open but most of the traffic was just going in to Hamburg. If you’re going for Denmark I had much better luck at Rastplatz Holmmoor on the other side of Hamburg―Chriswally

First car pulled over and took me to Hamburg. Obviously got very lucky but it’s a dedicated spot for hitchhiking so think you’re always going to get a ride.―Chriswally

waited for more than two hours on a monday morning, inscriptions on the nearby column are telling the stories of other waiting hitchhikers and my ride told me that she had to wait longer and longer on this spot during the last years, the circuit still seems to be the best option towards Berlin―Anonymous

After 1,5h we got two ride-offers simultaneously! A German family offered to take us all the way to Hamburg with the ferry.Tip: have a walk around in the ferry and use that time to network and find your next ride if you hear the language of the next country you’re heading towards! We heard a few Dutch families (but their cars were full).

This spot gets a lot of traffic (all cars getting on the Autobahn to Hamburg). We were 2 people with a sign for Hamburg. Several reviews recommended the spot 500m south, at the traffic light, but it is before the intersection and in consequence got a third of the traffic. We we switched to the present spot, we had more people waiving to us and we eventually found a ride (after 30 min at this spot).―Blocktomo

Very nice spot. Just be sure to mind the traffic. I stood in the middle of the two lanes on the striped part.―nis223

Stand right beside the traffic light so people can see you from the car when the light is red(Make yourself bigger). As cars go fast here.Drivers can easily pullover at the bus stop, which is right ahead of traffic stop.

Cars are going a bit fast and there are two lanes, might be tough if traffic is too high. But we had good luck, and found a lift to Wittenburg after around 15 minutes.―TripleH
