Tried hitching a ride on the right side of the road in front of the traffic light with a sign saying "east", 1h no luck. Then a friendly driver told me to stand on the left side of the eastward traffic, on the traffic island there, because the two leftmost Lanes go mostly eastward and the right lane goes North and west. Was lucky in 30 more minutes. Great spot to stop in front the traffic light, loads of room there.―Anonymous

Get to the last set of traffic lights on the no 1 road (The Trans-Canada road) going west from Calgary, just facing the Canada Olympic Park. Walk another 200 meters to the point where it splits, and stand between the road going straight (road no. 1) and the road going right. You're trying to catch a ride on road no. 1. A little spooky, but took me 15 minutes only with a big sign.―Anonymous

worked well for me because you have the slow traffic merging onto the highway who have time to look at you and read your sign―Anonymous

Got a ride to Nisku within 20 minutes, but I think I just got lucky. The traffic is going fast although there is lots and lots of room to safely pull over. Getting there is just a tad tricky. You'll have to walk 3-4 km in order to get there.―Pseudodoc

I was unable to get a ride east. After 1h, I stand at the red light across the junction instead and got a ride within seconds.―Xavi67

2 of us waited about 45 minutes. Cars are fast, there's no much place to stop, but still after enough time someone will pull over. Whole Trans-Canada traffic goes here.―K9f100

There is a strip mall to the north of the intersection, with a laundromat. Standing here you will get a lot of Stoney trail traffic, but its less of a walk. Better for later in the day.―Anonymous

Location is conveniently accessible by public transport. I stood here for about an hour unsuccessfully waiting for a ride to Edmonton since most of the traffic is going to Airdrie. Easier to go there first if you need to go north.―Anonymous
