To hitchhike westward from Canmore. Get down to the point where the intersection connects to the Trans-Canada (road no. 1), there you'll find a short strech where cars can pull off. Your best bet is in the morning, when all the people who are going to work in the west (maiely Banff) leave Canmore through this exit. Might only get you as far as Banff, but at least you'll be past the entrance, and riding with someone who works inside will rid you from paying entrance fee.

Towards Calgary. Waited here in the rain and got picked up within 10 minutes.

On ramp has extremely little westbound traffic, you have to get on the highway. I got lucky because the guy took a wrong turn and ended up there and picked me up, otherwise I was going to walk up to the highway.

great spot from the campsite. Much space, great view. We were two and got a ride to Banff pretty quick.
