I got dropped there because of miscommunication with driver, my bad.The place is directly road, there is place to stop, but cars going really fast, 3 lines, no shade, hot af, no traffic lights.
Don't repeat my mistake, try to get out instead in this order (if going for Zagreb, Zadar for example):
- near Mall of Split (few km from here on the same road, it's on HWM already, from here to the highway - most of the traffic leaving city this way)
Less favorable spots:
- on the Solin (crossroad, shade, nice place to stop, traffic light)
- or if driver is going thru Split, try before Trogir, on road to Plano (from here are the tools and highway) - this is on way to airport.
I took the bus (it's bus stop) to the bus main station and from here to Solin - Sirina 1.
That is near big crossroad (it's spot already on HWM as well).
You must jump out of bus because the bus may not going directly to the bus main station (watch the map!), walk across the road, 5-10 minutes.
The next bus (possibly no. 2, 37) is going from platform at the opposite end of the bus place from the direction you'll get there.
There is no sign for bus numbers unfortunately, badly designed station.
But it's the bus that is going to airport or near the airport (end station often Trogir) as well, so there'll crowd of people with luggage.
On that stop possibly no one will leaving the bus - so you must press the 'STOP' button to open the doors.
(They have no dedicated button for opening just the doors.)
The ticket costing 3E and is valid for quite a while (45min? can't recall) so both from here and to the spot is doable on one ticket. I have been checked for the ticket twice, on both lines, so wouldn't suggest an attempt for blackriding.

On my way to Zagreb, got an offer to nearby city and the second driver took me to Split.I stood before the bus stop, there is place for cars to stop, no shade.
Low traffic (weekend and end of the season).
Walked there from city center for swimming on nearby beach (there is a pathway connecting the beach sections after Galeb camp).
Croatia have on Sunday almost all shops closed so had to visit one opened bakery and gas station for water.
Otherwise there are some spots before this one.

On my way to Croatia, direction Zagreb.Got few offers, not far away or to the different direction (Dubrovnik).
Finally guy picked me, straight ride to Omis (really nice place, coastline, worth to visit for a day).
I stood not on gas station, some 100m before - just after the roundabout.
It's with space to stop for car on the line to gas station.
No shade, but quite windy all the time (they have windmill park nearby, could see the blades rotating).
I walked there from train station - just to see the Mostar.
(The train is going, as of now, only once per day, so if you jump out, there is no same day ride to Ploce. Only back to Sarajevo.)
Basically it's straight road all the way from train station to here, no navigation needed.
Took me some 3 hrs to see it all and thumbing here.
It's only 45 min by walk from the famous bridge (with big backpack).
But there is public transport also that could get you close.
Circa 1 km nearby, before this place, is a field with no buildings and there were few stray dogs, so I waited before they departed out of my way.

Got picked up after a really short wait with a sign saying "Zadar/Split", waited around 50m north the petrol station bc talking to people there hasnt worked out before. Got picked up by a lovely Croatian who took us all the way to split1 male 1 female + luggage

I didnt like this spot as much as other guy. I would say there is not much space to spot and a bit akward also as they coming out of turn into a turn. Provably better to try to catch in one of the earlier bus stops in this town. I think they should be better. But whole crotianis horrible just take the bus :))) waited 45 mins for a guy to take me almost to makarska―kiausiniuvagis

I waited only 5 minutes by the bus stop for a car that drove me almost 50 minutes down the coastal road. Really fun time, and probably your best bet if you want to go south on the coast :)―daganzebuaatramper

Perfect place for Makarska/Dubrovnik.I get there with nr60 buss. There is alot of space for cars to stop, drivers slov down on turn. Also for hich-hikers in summer there is some trees for shade.
After 20 minutes of waiting, a couple picked me up to Makarska and offered me a place to stay.

I was dropped off here by a local, but had to wait here quite some while before someone picked me up. Spot itself isn’t bad, people can see you and your sign and have a place where to stop before and after the toll. I had a sign Split/Zagreb. Eventually an American couple stopped and they were driving to Ljubljana!!!―anettlee17

High traffic going slow and cars have a nice spot to stop

The bus station is a very nice spot with lots of space to pull over. There is a supermarket right on the opposite site of the bus station, from where the Promet Makarska bus line goes south to at least Ploče―Suip
