Got a ride to the toll gates at Dugopolje.

After 43mins decided to walk to the next onramp which has better space for drivers to stop. Ofcourse, a "mad man driver" would have no issue stopping here.

The gas station was closed and the fruit vendors didn't like us even sitting on 'their' parking.

2 guys with backpacks, hitchhiked to Zadar with sign Zadar.
It's a sunny spot (sunscreen recommended)
High traffic going slow and cars have a nice spot to stop
Very very low success rate tho...took us 90 minutes even with high traffic

We stood at the toll 60min with a Dubrovnik sign
The spot is fine, we just had no luck. Most cars where full with families. In the end a nice guy took us to Makarska

Good spot, lots of cars stop on their way to Split. A guy saw us getting off the car with our sign in hand and went to talk to us ;) that's luck

(direction Split) good spot for cars to stop but Makarska is a horrible place to hitchhike overall especially going south. going to Split seems way easier

A good spot with lots of traffic. There were lines of traffic at the toll booth so I walked along them and asked drivers. Someone took me half way to Dubrovnik. I should have waited for a lift the whole way - I'm sure I would have found one!

Sign "Dubrovnik" got me a quick ride to Opuzen. It is a busy road and a good place to stop for cars!

I was walking towards the bigger road and tried to hitchhike along the way with a sign "Split" it worked and I wasn't even trying too hard! :))

Had a sign "Split" got a ride to Split. Good spot in May. Could be worse outside of the season.

Should be a good spot, lots of through traffic and good space to pull over. Had to wait for an hour though until one of the nicest man picked me up.

Got a direct ride to Split on a Sunday. There are many bus stops where you can stand so that cars can stop easily

The cars go slowly there, plenty of time to decide and plenty of space to stop. I got a ride from an Uber driver (didn't have to pay ofc hehe) and some interesting life advices. :)

take bus no.60 direction stobrec.the road (magistrala) leads you out of town direction Dubrovnik.best is to find a spot where cars are slow or in front of the traffic light.

The toll booth to the highway can be a bit tricky to hitch. Most of the cars are going towards Dubrovnik so you can always take one of those to the next gas station (some 30km away), cross the street and get a ride towards Zagreb.

Easy rides to Dugopolje toll booth (cestarina), from where you can continue towards Zagreb or Dubrovnik. With a sign "Dugopolje" you get a ride in 15 minutes, because many of the cars are going to Sinj and other nearby towns.
