Not the best spot to go north. We waited just before the toll with a sign "Bordeaux" and took the first car who stopped. Unfortunately it was not the good direction, we've been left 10 minutes further on a highway exit which was not convenient for us. We were two with a dog.―Anonymous

Not bad for short distance, there is a place for cars to stop and roundabout right after so they slow down. But for longer distances it’s not the best, most of the trafic is local. We had a sign to Bordeaux and were brought to the entrance of the highway. We were two with a dog.―Anonymous

Cars can stop at the entrance of the gas station but a lot of local trafic. We had a sign "Bordeaux", a girl took us to Biarritz but it was not very convenient because exchanger there is not a good spot for hitchhiking―Anonymous

Great spot to go north. We asked directly and the first people we talked to (french couple in a camping-car) took us and brought us after the border to Saint Jean de Luz. We were two with a dog.―Anonymous

The other spot isn’t so good now because the majority of people in the vicinity are Portuguese cars that come to the gas station for cheaper fuel. Asked around and got incredibly lucky, a ride all the way to Irun with a French/Portuguese man. Don’t know what the alternative would be, maybe at the border crossing works better―Lmaoyz

Best spot on my trip yet. Getting there was a bit rough but managable having to go through the Woods and over highway crossing car bridge from the industrial zone. Consider hitching a ride there instead of the bus. But once there i talked to 2 different people. And the second were some portuguese Guys that took me all the way to toulouse at 19:30! It doesnt really get better than that.―JamonWithRamon

Took me a while but eventually got a ride to the border. Used a sign with "Francia". The traffic lights before this turned out to be better as they were red way more often and had a slighlty better placw to pull over.―VeikkaK

We ( Boy & Gril ) waited with another hitchhiker couple! They got a ride to the next gas station after 40mins. We were so lucky to find an elderly couple who speak english, that could take us all the way to Bordeaux :DWe definitely had to wait so long because not many pass by early in the morning! 2/3pm is the best time here.
Also it may be better to get a ride before the gas station in france as the gas prices are higher - still some people go to eat and do a stop here.
Just go around as ask 😁🌱
