It's not fantastic, but it's fairly easy to stop and people go slowly. Many city people who aren't going long distances. But they smile and wave kindly. I wanted to go north and had A5 on my sign. In the 20 minutes I was standing there 4 people stopped who were all going south on the A5. In the end I took a ride just to get out of the city and onto a A5 highway entrance.

waited a bit, not perfect because bus stop and lane for road 5 going south is seperated by exit ramp going somewhere.finally we got a ride 15 minutes south to some gas station. fair enough.

Spot is perfect. You only have to walk half an hour coming from Lauterbourg

Nice spot, dirt/gravel place where cars can stop and lot of traffic. Close to onramp to various directions (west, north, south) it was raining and we were cold so we agreed to get driven to Pirmasens (direction France) where we found shelter in a church

Not much traffic, maybe i was lucky but i got a ride from a woman tavelling to Munich trying to avoid expensive French highways, at 6 am. There is shopping area with toilets near and nice foresty spots to camp 2 km north (bit noisy though due to highway)

Had no luck here to get a ride to Stuttgard even though it would be perfect for cars to see you and stop.

Unsuccessful. It might not be a good spot to get a ride to the South. I did not find any to Strasbourg
But there are many cars and good space for a car to stop for you, which is a bus station. Cars come from a side road as well.

Works for east, south, west. Take tram #2 to 'Welfenstraße'.

The bus station 'Beiertheim West' makes a good hitchihking spot for direction south, but shoud also work for East (Stuttgart) or West (Landau). Reachable by bus no. 062, but also by tram no. 2 to 'Welfenstraße' or by walking from the main station into 'Ebertstraße' (10 Minutes'.

some strange guys let me there with my friend on the road to Prague, at midnight, in the forest... bad plan. If it happens to you, cross the bridge and walk 30minutes to Wörth, There is a metro station to Karlshrue
