The first car stopped and took me to Vienna
Enough space to stop and cars are going slowly and have enough time to see you

Verry good spot lots of cars.
Walked from the train station Hegyeshalom to here in about a hour - quite a long distance but made sense for us because we had the Hungary pass.

Probably very good spot for finding rides to Vienna or maybe even further. We got a ride to Bratislava after a long time, but we got lucky.

Perfect spot for finding a ride. We just stood with signs right in front of the exit from the parking. Really good for Vienna/Bratislava/Győr direction. We got a very funny ride. The story is not shareable for safety and legal reasons, but it would make a good chapter in traveling book.

Lots of cars, in multiple directions (Sopron, Wien, Linz). Didn't have to aks around, got picked up quickly without a sign. No shade is hard in the summer.

Managed to hitch a ride straight to Romania. Plenty of traffic towards Hungary, Romania and Serbia, especially on fridays and saturdays. Great spot certainly worth the walk from the nearest Bratislava bus stop ("Čunovské jazerá").

Not as much traffic as you might expect, so prepare for a little more waiting time.

Service area with many
trucks. Just ask the drivers if they can take you to Brno or Prague.

Last service station before the Austrian border (where you can get lifts as well).

Lifts to Austria are easy to get, Slovakia seemed to be a bit less common.

direction: budapest
last public bus stop. take bus nr.91 from novi most. get off at the white sign on the left which says 'cunovo'. from here you can walk to the service station at the border.

at the border, cars have to stop. they can see you and stop very good even in the night.

The cars don't stop nowdays because Hungary is the member of Schengen Zone

I prefer to go a bit further and stay after the Shell station, where the big rock is. :]

however they do slow down here, so it's better here than on a petrol station.

Yeah, getting a ride to Austria should be really easy. For Slovakia or Czech republic plan to wait much longer and ask every driver with a Slovak or Czech plate. I got a lift to Bratislava only (where I went to Lamac by bus), but it safed my day (or better: night:).

there are not that many people stopping on this gas station that are going to Bratislava since it's so close but many of them travel through Bratislava to Brno, Prague, etc. got a ride for me to Bratislava and for my friend further to Brno in 5 minutes.

Is very easy to get a ride in direction to Austria, but very very hard in direction to slovakia (i didnt ask on the petrol stion) 95% of drivers are going to west and you can be really happy if you will find registration from czech, slovakia, poland. anyway i got 5e from german driver to not give up. good luck everyone.
