I went with a sign at just after 07:00 (still dark). Cars moving very fast (speed limit 70 kph), but after about 30 min a kind truck driver stopped and took me directly to Riga.―daniellorell

One male 40+, with a sign "VILNIUS" , one big and one small backpacks, dry but cloudy day. Going to Vilnius.A very good space. A bus stop, with enough space even for a truck, just after the entrance/exit to a petrol station. 8:45 in the morning. A perfect traffic, a car every 20-30 seconds. I barely started hitchhiking and a car stopped and took me to Bauska, where after 15 minutes I got another ride, all the way to Vilnius.
The only problem with this place is getting there. Before, from Riga, there is a highway, plus it's 20 kms from the centre. So no chance to walk there. I got a ride from my friend. But I guess there must be a bus from Riga, stopping there.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Now there is a normally functioning gas station, so cars no longer can stop at the exit ramp.You can still try your luck and ask around at the gas station but it seems like mostly locals use this one and traffic is a bit small. After asking around for 45 minutes got ride to gas station near Varzas.

There is a bus stop: "Neilandi", the bus 26 go there from city and across the road is the sign of RIGA.Firstly I try to hitchhiking with the sign Vilnius but after 30 min with no result, I change the sing to Bauska. After this in 5 min one driver stopped and bring me to Bauska

Not the best spot, lots of locals, but there is space to stop on the side and gas station nearby (Circle K) if you want to ask. Ended up taking the bus into Riga 2€ after 15 minutes.―friki
