One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a sunny. On my way from Targu Jiu to Petrosani.
The place looks ok. Just after the petrol station. Plenty of space to stop coz that's why the double lane turns into a single one. So the end of the finishing one is a good spot to stop. No shade.
The traffic wasn't busy. But somehow around the petrol station it was quite busy, which was blocking the visibility and the space to stop. I started thinking of moving elsewhere. But after 7 minutes a car stopped and a couple gave me a lift to Petrosani.
So, it looks like a good spot ;)

One male 40+, no sign, one big backpack, a cloudy day, drizzling. On my way from here to a village Rachiti, 10 kms west of Targu Jiu (successful).
The place didn't look great. On a gentlebut curve indeed. No much space to stop. And it was drizzling (and we all know how rain "helps" in hitchhiking). But I just came down from 4-day hike in the mountains and I couldn't be arese to look for a better spot. Well, I got lucky. After 15 minutes I got a ride to Targu Jiu.

this city was a bitt dificult for us, poeple from the patrol station told us that the road to Brezoi is closed or something like that- you should check it before you plan to continue east. in the end of the city there is a nice patrol station for those who try to get to bucharest, or somewhere south. to bucharest try to get through - Targu- Valcea-Pitesti-Bucharest.

Usually we waited 15/30 minutes to get a ride, and in Romania is a lot! Try to hitchhike a little bit far from the center (there are a lot of "local hitchhekers") in the main street that go to the north. If you come from Targu Jiu/Craiova (the south part of Romania) Petrosani is a obligatory step: anyway, if you can, try to skip this city :)

The stop at the base of the teleski
There is a mountain rescue post, where you can ask for help or even emergency accommodation.
It's been easy to find a ride to Petrosani. There is a water spring 100m up the adjacent country road.
