Yes, there are not many people in the gas station, but there are some people around the restaurant and Burger King. And a far amount of people does go on longer distance rides, not so much local traffic anymore. In my experience the best service station in southern madrid (hitched this route 3 times now)―Laura13

Best to wait on the white striped median where the carpool lane begins. that way you'll call the attention of many more drivers because petrol station is not that busy. Waited 45 minutes, got ride to Murcia from trick driver who pulled over into emerging carpool lane.―Anonymous

This station has a lot of local traffic, as it has a car wash and is close to a commercial area. It's best to ask drivers whether they go to Ocana (just a bit further south) and then get dropped at the petrol station in Sesena Nuevo.―Laura13

In february, I gave up after 4 hours without any ride. In 4 hours I saw only 2 cars going at least to the next gaz station on the highway, but both were full. It's probably better in the summer though.―Peyjo

There is a gas station and cafeteria with good amounts of trucks coming. I was here twice, at 1:30-3:00 am and then at 6:30 in the morning. At night time there was nice amount of trucks, but still - a lot of trucks goes to the industrial zone and not further.Maybe it was because I didn’t knew how to catch a truck, but I had hard time hitching for a ride in the morning aswell, and at the end I stood with a sign and thumb at the exit to catch cars that have filled their tanks and cars that only pass here to cut the line off the main road.
Good staff at the service station. You can buy some snacks here.

This is a terrible place. I thought I will manage to catch more rides here than the service station because people come also from other directions to get on the road.Well, I was wrong. Trucks won’t stop just like that. And the people doesn’t stop although there’s some room.
I had luck with an extremely nice woman.

If you want to go to valencia, don’t go through villatobas. From albacete it’ll be easier, but getting to albacete is hard because the towns on the way are tough to hitchike from. There’s traffic here, but unfortunately seems to be local. Don’t try to go to villatobas because you’ll be stuck there.
ASK people here.
The stuff person at the service station is really nice. He can be helpful.

Ocaña is bad. There’s almost no traffic. The one that do leave from here goes locally. If you go to valencia I can only say that going to the service station 3km down (to villatobas) can leave you in need for luck, because if you fail to get a ride from there, or from corral de almaguer, you can get stuck.

If you want to go east, NEVER EVER GO HERE. People are really mad, everyone goes south... Definitely not. We finally left by walking, under 40°C. Never. Ever. Again.―Kiéran

Not a bad spot to catch a ride towards france or the north in general. We were dropped here at night and slept in a field nearby - its easy to sleep in many places in the nearby industrial area. For the spot itself, there are not that many cars but still enough going to the north. I recommend. Asking around will as almost always be your best bet.

The cars that go to Madrid will rather pick the other entrance for the highway. Here the car are going all different directions and in the time I waited nobody stopped and I’m sure that if somebody would stio, he wouldn’t be going to Madrid.―Anonymous
