Got picked up by a nice taxi driver returning to Ocaña after 4 minutes. Far better spot than in the city. Worth the bus ride.―SaintJ

Best to wait on the white striped median where the carpool lane begins. that way you'll call the attention of many more drivers because petrol station is not that busy. Waited 45 minutes, got ride to Murcia from trick driver who pulled over into emerging carpool lane.―Anonymous

If you want to go to valencia, don’t go through villatobas. From albacete it’ll be easier, but getting to albacete is hard because the towns on the way are tough to hitchike from. There’s traffic here, but unfortunately seems to be local. Don’t try to go to villatobas because you’ll be stuck there.
ASK people here.
The stuff person at the service station is really nice. He can be helpful.

Ocaña is bad. There’s almost no traffic. The one that do leave from here goes locally. If you go to valencia I can only say that going to the service station 3km down (to villatobas) can leave you in need for luck, because if you fail to get a ride from there, or from corral de almaguer, you can get stuck.

If you want to go east, NEVER EVER GO HERE. People are really mad, everyone goes south... Definitely not. We finally left by walking, under 40°C. Never. Ever. Again.―Kiéran

This is a good service station with restaurants. There’s traffic of trucks and cars. I made the mistake of going to ocaña. DO NOT be tempted to do the same to get further in your travels. Ocaña is dead for hitchhiking.I believe if you’ll be patient you can find a ride here that is more long distance.

This is a terrible place. No one will stop. I got picked up by pure chance by talking to a guy in villatobas and he later saw and picked me up.There’s a small curve here for the people leaving villatobas to pass. Those who come from the main way probably wont stop.

Local traffic, but enough cars to get to the next town pretty quickly. Not good for long distance.―Anonymous

Very few people at this gas station, and quite secluded. Mabye 10 cars in an hour. Got a ride that was going to Ciudad Real by asking every driver.―Anonymous

People here stop much more than in Madrid (I suppose because it’s a small town) nevertheless they go locally so I got stuck in Ocaña. If you want to go south hitchiking I recommend going along la costa del sol avoiding Madrid region because there are more foreign people.―BatouLeGnou
