we were coming from south (Tarifa, Sevilla), and used this spot to change west.found a ride to Badajoz
if you need to camp over night, seems to be a chilled olive grove behind the charging station for electric cars.

It's a good spot to go in direction of Sevilla, or maybe Madrid. But it's really not the best to stop if you're going in direction of Portugal.―Remigr

This may be useful if you're going to Lisbon at work days. Otherwise AVOID. I was unlucky to be lifted there while going to Madrid on Saturday. Absolutely pointless: gave up asking (after unsuccessfuly asking everyone at the spot), went to highway exit (nice point, much place to stop and slow traffic), find out that the traffic is extremely rare (one car/10-15 mins, lorries being very few of them). Luck sent me Portuguese guys with a direct ride to Madrid suburbs at the moment I was considering taking a bus (they say there is a stop nearby). Little bit less than 3h of waiting under the burning sun.―Anonymous

estacion de servicio; gas station on the road towards the highway; there's also space for cars to stop; mostly locals driving not very far.―Anonymous

The best spot in this region to start a mid-long trip in many different directions: Portugal, north of Spain, Seville or Madrid. If you are in the city, you can do all the way to the spot walking. It won't be more than 5 km. But if you aren't on the mood, you can take the bus. Buses 7 and 8 lead to "Avenida de pitagoras". Then go to the west and ask for the path "Calle del Palo" (it isn't on this map, but it exist). At the end of this way you can find two big petrol stations where you can ask for any direction.―Anonymous

We waited here to go to Sevilla from Merida, there is a bus stop just after the roundabout. The big roundabout near the entrance to the highway is impossible to stand, the near gas station is also pointless.―Anonymous

If you go to Madrid or Lisbon, it's the very useful place - many tracks stops here. So, just ask.―Anonymous

Best petrol station to go to the north or south! Huge amount of trucks and cars. A lot of morrocans going south so you might be able to catch a ride with them. You can get here from seville by bus.―Sebby
