A guy and a girl withiut a sign on a Friday evening. Very bad spot. There is clearly no place for cars to stop, maybe if you go hitchhike at the redlights nearby, but it's impossible to hitchhike on the ramp.We were on the other side of the road wondering how to hitchhike here when two really nice girls stopped by to help us thinking we were lost. They ended up taking us to Uddevalla, so we were quite lucky !

Good spot to go to Götenborg, but not so good to go further. Not a lot of cars passing by, but several cars stopped until a guy eventually proposed to take us past Götenborg.―JumpingRabbit

Pretty nice spot but not a lot of people are stopping. Got lucky.―Anonymous

I mean if you want to get out of airport this is probably the best spot because you also catch the traffic from mcdonalds which turned out good for me because the couple picked me up to goteborg from there.―kiausiniuvagis

Sorry guys, but this might be my lucky spot! Within 10 minutes I got a short ride to the next gas station/rest area. The driver mentioned it’s not a safe spot since the ramp is already part of the motorway — but in my opinion, it’s still a usable place for hitchhiking north.―denwer

The waiting time ranged from 10 to 60 minutes. I was hitchhiking to Oslo and received two offers to Kungälv; the second time, I accepted the offer.―denwer

I remember my sister's bad experience at this parking area before—she and her husband had to wait for a ride for more than 24 hours. I was lucky that day and got a ride to Gothenburg in just 15 minutes. The car was originally going to Oslo, but they offered me a lift to Gothenburg. All the other cars were full.―denwer

We were about to give up and go to eat McDonalds 40 minutes away on foot, but a really nice girl saw us being in misery, approached us and asked if we need a ride. We wanted to reach Oslo, she drove us a little bit over Undelvalla :) (couple)―violonsky

We were hyped about the spot because of many positive reviews, but the experience was tragic. We waited 3h 20min with Oslo sign. At 19:50 a guy gave us a 10 min ride to a small village.―violonsky

Heading to Oslo. Took a while (travelling two people with backpacks) but got picked up and dropped off in Strömstad.―MayaMC

This is one spot for going south on E6/E20. Perhaps a bit too close to the center -- many cars are probably not leaving the city. Though a friend got a ride straight to Malmö. There are indeed red lights, so you can get contact with people. You can get here by taking a tram to stop called Stampen, and walking Gullbergsvassgatan.

Me and my buddy hitched from this spot twice, once to Oslo and once to Stockholm...didn't wait longer than 30mins...lots of traffic and a bus stop to pull into.―Anonymous

Stigs Center -- big service station where international truck drivers stop and rest. Going north and south on E6. Should be possible to talk somebody into taking you.It has a long history, but it doesn't look like this anymore: http://www.stigscenter.se/img/historia/tappen62.jpg .
Get here by taking bus 47 from Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen towards Tuve.
Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen (on Hisingen Island, just across the bridge (Götaälvbron) from the central train station) is reached by tram 5, 6 or 10.
