Very easy to get a lift to lausanne, after you are on the highway get off on La Cote rest stop if you need to go far into switzerland―Frederik

Great spot, lots of traffic, easy to approach people filling up at the gas station. A lot of cars go further ahead to the shopping though so if you are two people splitting up is an advantage. Getting off here is probably the best option even if you lift can take you all the way to lausanne.―Frederik

In the afternoons you can easily catch a ride from Switzerland to the villages on the French side with cross border commuters, but the other direction is difficult. And the other way around in the mornings.―TillWenke

Entrance of the highway. Illegal spot but enough space for car to stop. Not that much traffic. Very efficient.―Anonymous

Good spot, have used it many times.wait after gas station, you can ask people but sign works fine. To get there take local train to chambésy then walk 5 minutes. Best luck during morning and evening rush hour. Have never waited longer than 1h

Direction Lausanne or GenevaThere's IKEA here, so you might find easily someone for the rest of the way to Lausanne or Geneva, if your driver stops you here.

there's a gas station (BP) further down the street (towards the city), where you can go and ask people.―GuterMensch

Hitchhiked : on my own (girl)Waiting time: 5min (asked driver)
It was quite a walk from the tram station (Butini), maybe 30min. On the way, there are loads of traffic lights and the road is going straight to the highway. I think there are very good possibilities to get a ride if you have a sign and try from one of the traffic lights. However, the gas station worked very well, I asked a first driver and he drove me past Lausanne. (Was going to Luzern).

Gas station towards route 1. Bern, Lausanne, Zurich. There's a lot of local traffic, but I think it's a better spot than the other one where cars can't pull off.―Anonymous
