Waited near the car repair bay opposite the petrol station for about 2 hours for a lift North. Lots of families and full cars (it was early August). Not a bad spot in theory.―Anonymous

Second step to exit the Lakes. Very fast road but there's lots a space for cars to stop and a good visibility so with some luck somebody will stop. Took me closer to the M6―Elv

Not a great spot. Nowhere good to be seen well but it's a service station so cars are slow. Some cars go to M6 north/south or to Penrith... So you need luck to find the right one―Elv
