Not the most orthodox place to hitchhike but I managed to approach a stopped truck within 20 minutes and was on my way to Poti. Other than that I probably wouldn't hitchhike here. It's probably illegal as it's literally the highway, but because of the slip lanes there *is* a suitable place to pull over.―Hikehitcher

Waited for close to two hours there with and without a sign reading ‘Kutaisi’ in both languages.Not much room for cars to pull over but many do (to pick up their relatives etc) and buses as well.
Not much traffic but Matshukas come every 30min or so in the worst case.

DO NOT get off in the center of Khashuri because its a disaster to get out of it. if this happens stop Taxi and tell him to give you a ride till RIKOTI way. Taxi may cost some $7-8.―Anonymous

Yes, if you want to go to Kutaisi it's a long(ish) walk out of town. Not much space for cars to pull over, but, try anyway.―Tomtom

Didnt really try to be honest cause this street is just chaos and stress. For 1 Lari take Bus number 1 up to Surami there is the perfect place to either Tbilisi or Kutaisi/Batumi.―FlexiG
