Immediately after we started hitchhiking lovely chap stopped and took us directly to Hunedoara's castle through beautiful hilly countryside. Note - this route is perhaps significantly slower then via Calan if u wanted go to highway in Deva. Plus in this point is not much room for cars to stop.―johnni

This is a good spot for Cluj-Napoca also. You just have to be dropped off at Sebeș exit, the second one! On the exit that merges with the road towards Alba-Iulia.―Worldwidehitchhiker
