Big runoff for cars to pull over, it’s the best way to get to the highway from Deva so it works even if going east. I got a ride to Sibiu/Nagyszeben―Arphile

To Hunedoara/Vajdahunyad, cars can easily pull over before the gas station. Some guy going to Petroșani made a small detour for me―Arphile

Doesn’t feel great but it’s really the only way to catch the highway going south, not too much traffic so cars do stop. Probably easier for Sibiu than Deva―Arphile

Immediately after we started hitchhiking lovely chap stopped and took us directly to Hunedoara's castle through beautiful hilly countryside. Note - this route is perhaps significantly slower then via Calan if u wanted go to highway in Deva. Plus in this point is not much room for cars to stop.―johnni

We stood a bit more in front of this road, between mc Donald's and the Petrol station, with a sign to timișoara but no one even thought about stopping :(―princessescharming

Good place to go to Deva, but the local hitchhikers stand here as well and most of them just want to go to the next village so it was a bit frustrating to see so many people being picked up before us :) but one of them reassured us that we're in the right place―princessescharming

ATTENTION! A new highway recently opened, with entrance a few km before, so this spot now is almost senseless! From here I tried 4 others spot before being lucky more to the east out of the city―Phidias81

This is a good spot for Cluj-Napoca also. You just have to be dropped off at Sebeș exit, the second one! On the exit that merges with the road towards Alba-Iulia.―Worldwidehitchhiker

OMV petrol station - clean toilets, good hitchhiking spot if you don't want to stay among Romanian hitchhikers. If you stay here, you're less likely to be asked for money.
A sign with your destination is a good idea.

Direction: WESTThis is a good spot to go to Arad, Timisoara, or even Budapest/Wien/etc
Since the highway was made, this became a better spot than the one next to MC Donalds, since all the traffic from Sibiu goes on the highway.
To get here you would need a help from someone to drop you off, or you would have to have a walk(quite long ~ 1hour)
